Venue Creation

Subvenues vs. Configurations

A key point of difference between a subvenue and a configuration is that booking a subvenue space within a venue does not prevent another subvenue to be booked at the same time within the same vanue.

Examples

  1. Sofi Stadium has a bookable parking lot in addition to its interior space – The parking lot would be listed as a subvenue of Sofi Stadium, as using the outdoor parking lot does not negate the ability to have a separate event inside the stadium.

  2. Comedy club with three bookable rooms – A performance in one room does not prevent the other two rooms from having a performance at the same time. Each room would be a subvenue of the main comedy club. The main comedy club would exist as an unbookable parent venue.

  3. An event space can seat 100 people or remove chairs/tables and seat 1000 people – These two would be set as two configurations for the same space.

Naming conventions

Subvenues

To more easily identify subvenues in relation to a parent venue, the names of subvenues will be recorded as "Name of Parent Venue" - "Name of subvenue". As such, the name of the

Example: “Sofi Stadium – Parking Lot” where "Sofi Stadium" is the parent venue and "Parking Lot" is the bookable subvenue.

Configurations

When no names are provided, a :Configuration is named by the DMO in a way that best reflects the properties of the configuration.

Examples:

  1. “Standing only”
  2. “Partially seated”
  3. “180 degree view”

Larger and more versatile venues may already have predetermined names for their different configurations. In these cases, the DMO will name the configuration to match the venue's names.

Private Residence

UTA clients are often booked for appearances at private residences. These residences are recorded into Auth Data as venues of type Private Residence and with their bookable property set to TRUE. When a venue is set as such, any supplied display name is overwritten as Private Residence.

Cruise Ships

In cases where the venue is a cruise ship, the DMO will create a venue of type Cruise Ship with an address set to the ship's port of origin (address will include exact entry point such as "Gate 12"). The venue will be named in the format: "Cruise Line - Name of boat". For example, a Princess Cruise ship named Queen of the Seas will be named "Pricess Cruises - Queen of the Seas".
